Essence Gold Old Buffy

Mmm... This is a rather awesome nail polish. Essence 01 Gold Old Buffy from the Vampire Love trend edition is like Wagon Trail on steroids. It just lights up from within thanks to all the flakies inside. And the formula is very, very nice indeed. Here I use just two coats, but I suppose you can get away with just one slightly thicker and accurate coat. I'm in love with this polish!

Sun, Sea, Snow?

I live within a 5 minute walk from the beach, but I rarely go there. There are way too many people in the summer and not much to do. Winter time is different. There are very few people and if there's no wind I love walking along the beach. Plus there are no clouds and there is actually SUN!!!!!!

It is getting colder and colder around here. It's around -10C at the moment, but it's supposed to plummet way past -20 in the next couple of days. So I'll crawl under the blanket with my cat and try to keep warm.

The frozen waves look really cool.

Right by the edge of the water the sea is starting to freeze in these weird pancake shapes.

Rococo Nail Apparel No Shrinking Violet

I've had this polish for almost six months now, got it in this gorgeous shop in Amsterdam, Skins Cosmetics. It was one of those cases when I felt like a shabby student in jeans next to the prim and proper diamond and fur-wearing clients.
I was actually hoping to get Andromedia, a kind of brown nail polish with holographic glitter in it. But no luck, so I decided to choose the most interesting colour there. The shop had about 40-50 polishes grouped together by finishes - pastels, neons, neutrals, and more interesting colours; they also had the Gold Leaf Lacquer.

The packaging design is of course absolutely gorgeous! I also like that each polish comes with a separate paper inside listing information about the company, ingredients, other products and also the types of finishes they have and the coverage they provide (Creme Gloss, Satin, Matte, Luxe, Metallic, Molten Lava, Glitter, Sheer Gloss/Stain).

No Shrinking Violet falls into the Metallic category and the colour is supposed to be "futuristic metallics, good coverage". I don't see the metallic aspect, but it doesn't matter, the polish is pretty without it. It only needs two coats and is purple with purple, magenta and some blue shimmer in it. I like the formula a lot on this one and also the wear time was great, some four days with no problems. The photos with flash tend to make the polish look blue, but it isn't.

OPI DS Amethyst

My blog has been feeling neglected lately. The main reason is because I've been delving into my family's history, filling in the blank spaces and matching names to available photographs. And it is SO exhausting. There are hundreds of people on it that I have never heard of, let alone seen, a lot of repeating names, and no matter how hard I try I can't get past the beginning of the 20th century. Oh well. I also have looked through many unfortunate photographs over the past week.

Well, on to the polish. I am a real sucker for these lovely DS polishes from OPI, I love how holographic they are. I was quite sure that DS Amethyst would be very close to DS Original, but in fact they aren't that similar. Amethyst is more pink, while DS Original is darker and more lilac. This needed only two coats and it dries very fast. I wore it for 3+ days, so I'm extremely happy.

As a bonus, here's the kind of things I've been sorting through this pas week, a photo of my parents on their wedding day, almost 30 years ago.

General Update

The last couple of weeks has been insane in terms of expanding my stash. For one thing my parents got me polishes from my wishlist as a Christmas\New Year gift. Amazing!!!!

China Glaze: Snow Globe, Cha Cha Cha, Riveter Rouge, Let's Groove, Mahoganie, Re-fresh Mint, Medallion, Doll House

OPI: Jade is the New Black, Manicurist of Seville, Lucky Lucky Lavender, Warm & Fozzie, Meep-Meep-Meep, DS Temptation, William Tell Me About OPI, Rainbow Connection, Russian Navy Suede

Also, gorgeous Essence polishes appeared, and after looking up the swatches online I don't think I could have passed up these. These three are the only ones that were left of the Vampire collection, Gold Old Buffy, Hunt Me If You Can, and True Love. I suppose I should try to find the other two colours as well.

I also stumbled upon the Depend polishes in one shop. The colours were in general really boring, and I only picked up who shades, 204 is a dark blue shimmer and 58 is an ugly lavender shimmer with holographic particles. I also picked up Pepe's Purple Passion and Urban Night.
I've already tried Pepe's Purple Passion and it has a very interesting and weird formula, it's like a paste, and while it is liquid, it doesn't run at all.

And last but not least, I've been remunerated for doing my internship, not enough to do anything useful with it, so I went dusty hunting and spent most of it on these five beauties. I was surprised that DS Amethyst is not that close to DS Original as I thought, and Glacier Bay Blues is

China Glaze Midtown Magic

Hey guys! I've been rather busy this past week, I've started my internship and just had no energy left to blog. But I hope things to get better. Today I want to show you this gorgeous polish, I'm sure you've seen it a hundred times before, but in my eyes it is SO awesome that another can't hurt. I suppose it can be described as dark brown with these multicolored flecks in it. It was two easy coats for me, and I love, love, love it!

OPI DS Fantasy

What a great way to start the new year! To me DS Fantasy is like liquid denim. Two coats for an understated holographic look. Yes, it is not as in your face rainbow effect as Glamour is, but it is still very nice. Also my nails have unexpectedly started peeling. I really have no idea why or how to battle it, so I'll just stick to short nails for now.

I am currently doing internship at a local hotel as part of my degree. It's an interesting experience, even though at times it can be boring as hell. Well, I just have to stick to it for now.
