OPI Sonic Boom

Because I couldn't leave OPI Fly alone, I also tried layering OPI Sonic Boom over it, since they have similar base colours. Sonic Boom is a very sheer blue polish with green-yellow shimmer in it. I suppose you can get it to be opaque eventually, but I should think that it will take 3+ coats. This polish looks the prettiest in the bottle as you can notice some pink flashes as well. I'm not sure how easy is this polish to find (mine is black label) but I have seen a few newer, white label bottles in my local shop. Since it is an old polish, it takes a while to dry on its own, but i think it is absolutely worth it. I suppose the next thing I should do is try to see how many coats it will take to get opaque.

OPI Fly

OPI is by far my favourite brand, it is also the largest part of my stash. Fly represents everything I like about their polishes. The colour is great - bright, vibrant and very pretty. The formula is also fantastic, two coats here. It dries quickly and lasts some 3-4 days on me.

Sparitual Sacred Ground

I can't wait for today to be over. After months of being in France and being busy all the time I'm finally going to Paris on Saturday. I'm really excited, since I've never been to Paris before (my dad is not too fond of the French, so we've never been there on holiday).

Sparitual marks Sacred Ground as 'glitter' on the bottom of the bottle, but I don't really think that it is a true glitter. To me it looks more like tiny shimmery flakies in a variety of colours in the pewter base. It is awesome either way. For me it is a very moody polish, since it has so many facets - at times it looks very grey, at other time more golden or bluish-purple. I used two coats.

OPI Meep Meep Meep

Since it is so sunny around here now, I've been wearing a lot of holographic polishes. At the same time I'm going through my notes and pictures of polishes that I never got round to posting for one reason or the other. Meep Meep Meep is from a Christmas collection, but it is so juicy and sparkly that it deserves to be worn all year round. Flakie shimmer is lovely in this one, but I think it looks a little bit more pink in person. This was two coats with one coat of top coat.
Also the most amazing trees have been flowering around here lately. I think they are magnolias, but since I've only seen one magnolia tree before, I'm not entirely sure. But they are just awesome!

Barry M Blue Moon

Blue Moon is a great polish in theory. Pale blue, with blue shimmer, yet when it comes to the polish itself it leaves me somewhat unsatisfied. I think that I don't have enough patience to deal with how sheer it is\how uneven it goes on. You need 3-4 coats to get it looking like this, and frankly, I think the look can be achieved by layering it over a pale blue creme polish, since I just don't have the patience to wait for 4 coats to dry, even if it looks nice.

OPI Party In My Cabana

Last weekend me and a few friends discovered a local farmers' market. I've missed proper fresh produce, and food that tastes like it should. Funny how such small things make me really happy. It will certainly be on our to-do list every Saturday morning from now on. Even though it's fairly small, it is very colourful. In one place you have people selling cheese, close by are people selling fruit and vegetables, along with live hens next to them.

I have no idea what made me get this polish when I bought it. I suppose the swatches online looked completely different (or with my skin tone it looks differently). On me it looks like a muted pink shade with a hint of coral. I still like the polish, even though it is not what I expected. I DO like the formula of the polish, it applied nicely and easily in two coats. Actually the South Beach Collection form 2009, which includes this polish, has a few of my all-time favourites.

China Glaze Draped In Velvet

I've been a bad blogger lately. No matter how much I tell to myself that today is the day I finally sit down and write a post, something else occupies my time and attention. Oh well...
But the good news is that spring is finally here! Today is actually the first time I didn't wear any jacket outside. That is fabulous!!!

My bottle of Draped In Velvet has the (old) white label, but the polish itself is really nice and pigmented, two coats here. I really like the colour, and the finish. I like how it glows and shimmers blue, pink and purple.

Catrice Oh My Goldness!

Cartice Nail Polish #910 Oh My Goldness! could not be named any more aptly. It is gold, very gold. I don't have a lot of gold polishes, so it is a nice addition to my stash. I think it will be a great shade for summer. It looks like warm liquid gold on my fingers, and I like it. The formula is a little on the sheer side, so I needed to use three coats for full opacity, but I think it is worth it.

OPI William Tell Me About OPI

Oh how great it is that it is the weekend! That is just what I needed, some rest, fresh air, and of course studying. I have some exams coming up. Greeeeeat.
I'd rather talk a little about one of my favourite dark polishes - William Tell Me About OPI. It is just dark enough to be a sexy, dark plum, but light enough to still be able to tell the base colour.
I find it to be an easy one in terms of application, I used two coats.

China Glaze Cha Cha Cha

Green is my favourite colour. I think it is because in nature there are so many shades of beautiful, lush green. Though not all green polish suit me, I think. Cha Cha Cha is one of those, it is such a fun colour, but on me it doesn't look so great. Sadface.
The polish applies quite nicely, if a little thin. It needed three coats to be completely opaque. A very yellow leaning shimmer green, a really spring shade.

OPI Just Spotted The Lizard

I am actually not that fond of duochrome polishes. There, I've said it. They look so lovely in the bottle, but when I put them on they just seem not that exciting. So when Peridot came out with all the dupes, I was not really bothered. And then I got OPI Just Spotted The Lizard as a gift.
I can't say that I absolutely love this polish, but there are aspects that I really like. The texture and the way it feels to the touch is great, so smooth. And the way it looks on grey, overcast days of which there are many in autumn and winter. This was two coats that dried really quickly.

Make Up Store - Greta

For me this is the first week when I don't have as much to do as usual. Less lectures, projects and general craziness. So I'm enjoying myself while it last by occasionally sleeping in and soaking up the sun.
Apparently, around here it is unseasonably cold, but still sunny. Since there is no snow (unlike back home) I can't really complain.

Me and Greta didn't get along for a while. The first time I tried it, the application was just a disaster, streaky, patchy mess. Fast forward to using Gosh Fix base coat, and it is much better. I still usually use three thin coats, but at least I don't groan in frustration in between :)
I think that out of all the holographic polishes I have Greta might be the most rainbow-y, but also the most difficult to capture. In real life it is much more vivid. I like that despite needing some three coats, it dries quickly and lasts pretty well, around three days on me, unlike some.
