Chanel Taboo

It's so good to be home! It is warm and sunny, and I've been enjoying my summer at last. It is not wet and grey like it was in France. It is great!!!

This is my first Chanel polish that I got for myself. A sort of present for coming home.
This polish is gorgeous, a deep purple with purple, blue and pink shimmer in it. I also really like the formula, it is easy to apply, and if I'm careful I can probably get away with just one coat.
It looks breathtaking in the bottle, I just wish it translated more onto the nails.

Chanel 513 Black Pearl

Hey everyone, I hope you are great. I've had my first day back at the university today and it was awful, simply horrendous! I really wonder how people like these are allowed to teach. One woman, a philosophy professor, managed to praise herself for 90minutes without saying anything relevant to the subject, and another guy in Political Science has ADD or something, he kept jumping back and forth between slights until everyone was bored, or sick or both, he was absolutely unable to finish a thought without jumping to the next.
As a way to cheer myself up I am wearing Black Pearl courtesy of my friend Lena. It's a very interesting and pretty colour, a sort of metallic steel grey with a flash of bottle green, very nice. This was two coats and surprisingly it took a long time to dry (my friend loves how quick it dries), so I'm wondering if it doesn't go well together with OPI base coat. Hmm, I'll have to try some other combinations.

Chanel 505 Particuliere

Hey guys! The last couple of days were spent in total idleness, being a national holiday here and all. Lots of carrot cake and watching movies till 3 am. Oh and of course my HDD broke down taking 40+ polish swatches with it that I was planning to post. Great, just great.
Ok, on to the polish. I’m sure you all have seen this a hundred times, but I thought I’d show it anyway. Particuliere is an interesting polish, at times it sort of looks taupe, sometimes more gray, or brown, or beige. Very complex. The formula is also butter-y smooth, and perfect with just two thin coats. I don’t think I quite *get* this polish, though. Sure, it’s supposed to be a neutral, but if I want to wear something neutral I would go for milky white or the palest pink, or even something sheer. I guess on my freakishly pale skin it just is too brown, but it must be stunning on tanned skin.

Chanel 475 Dragon

I think that Chanel Dragon is as close to a perfect red polish as you can get. It is a bright tomato red creme polish. I like everything about it - the texture is dense and smooth, it is very shiny (no top coat here) and it lasts a long time, 4+ days on me. Sure all other brands have this colour, but this polish is a pleasure to use!

Chanel 18 Rouge Noir

Today I've got for you a very sexy polish! This is an absolutely gorgeous, perfect dark red polish. The application was so perfect, I wish every dark polish applied this smoothly. This is two coasts. Incidentally, Barry M's Red Black which tries to dupe Rouge Noir was a total streak fest. What I really like about this polish is the color. It's just dark enough so that you see both the red hints and the black tones, without being too much of either color.

Chanel 481 Fantastic

It has been raining here a lot lately, and I needed a pick me up. So this is the color I used.
This is a very interesting polish. I think that Chanel Fantastic is exactly that, fantastic. It's a kind of dark pink color with a very subtle reddish pink shimmer. I actually like it a lot, it's bright and vivid, gorgeous all around. This was two coats, a very nice formula. You could probably get away with one even coat, but given that I'm clumsy, this is two thin ones. On me it dried extremely fast and wears decently. I managed to wear it for nearly three days. This polish looks great in the sun, it also really draws the attention to the nails.

Chanel 165 Organdy

This is one of the polishes I was given to try and it is such a cute color! Organdy is a pretty, pretty Barbie pink color. The formula is nearly perfect and it required only two thin coats. I think that it is an absolutely perfect spring color, and the wear is impressive, I wore it for almost four days.I like that it is neither pastel, nor too bright pink. It actually looks nice with my freakishly pale skin tone, and not many pink shades do.

Comparison: Chanel Paradoxal & Barry M Dusky Mauve

I have been looking forward to comparing these two polishes ever since I was given the opportunity to try Paradox. Both are two coats, but can you tell which one is which?

Well, the polish on the index and ring finger is Paradoxal, middle and pinkie finger is Dusky Mauve. In general I can't make them apart. To me they not only look identical, but the formula is very, very close as well.

Chanel 307 Orange Fizz

How gorgeous is this!!!!!!!!! Orange Fizz to me does not look particularly orange, it's more coral with pink tones. The polish itself is as close to perfection as it is possible - this is just one thick coat, it dries really quickly and does not chip on me. Superb! And three days on I am still wearing it.

Chanel 509 Paradoxal

This is one of the first polishes I used from the polishes I was given to try :) And how could I not?! It is gorgeous, truly stunning! You all know what it is, it's a little big grey, it's a little bit purple perfection in two coats. The wear is okay I guess, I got a few minor chips after a few days. I must say to my eye Barry M's Dusky Mauve looks really close, and I will do a comparison as soon as I can.


On a completely different note, I've been painting Easter eggs all day yesterday with my family. It's my favorite thing! Plus all my eggs end up being a varying shades of green (my favorite color). But now my fingers and nails are the most unmentionable color with a mixture of green, blue and red!

I am blown away by the kindness and generosity of people around! A friend of a friend has given me an opportunity to try some amazing polishes that I would have never dreamed of trying. But now I can, and I'm so excited!!! Not only are the colors amazing (I'm looking at you, Paradoxals and Nouvelle Vagues of this world), but even the bottles are gorgeous and are lovely to hold.
I'm really excited to try them all as soon as possible.

Chanel 159 Fire

This is another on of Lena's gorgeous Chanel polishes. What can I say, Fire is a bright red creme, shockingly red. The formula is dense, so in one coat it is pretty much opaque, and two coats make it perfect. I can now see why Lena loves Chanel polishes and I agree - they are easy to apply, and the formula is nice. Also I'm not wearing any top coat and look how shiny it is! When I was putting it on, it did look remarkably alike to the Max Factor posted some time ago. I wore it for 2 days, then it started wearing off at the tips. For some reason tip wear on red polishes is really noticeable on my nails, much more so than any other color.

Chanel 483 Vendetta

This is one gorgeous polish! I love, love, love it! Vendetta is a one coat dark purple polish that has pink and blue sparkle in it. It dries ok, not super fast, but it is fine. In the bottle it looks quite different - much brighter and the shimmer is more visible. When the polish dries, it looks darker and less sparkly, and in the natural light it looks almost black. Still, it is such a sexy polish!
Also on the nails it kind of looks like OPI Russian Navy does in the bottle.
