OPI Pawlish Yuppy Puppy

I recently came across OPI Pawlish polishes at my local beauty shop. I have never seen them before, but they were also 50% off, so three of them came home with me. I like the concept that these are 'Colors for nails for those with tails!', but I wouldn't use it on my cat - he never sits still for long enough, and tends to chew his nails.
The formula seems to be an old OPI, and the polish has the old, thin brush. The polish is supposed to be quick-drying and a one-coat colour.
Yuppy Puppy is a lovely silver foil. Considering that is is an old polish with old formula, I would even go as far as to call this amazing. It pretty much covers in one coat, but I used two very thin ones here. It is very smooth and pleasant to the touch, and does indeed dry quicker than other black label OPIs I have.

OPI Midnight Blue Glitter

I haven't worn this polish in ages, and the last time I showed Midnight Blue Glitter my photos didn't really show how pretty it is. The blue glitter catches the light at different angles making the whole polish light up. This was two coats over silvery-grey polish.

OPI Mermaid's Tears

I have been on a minty green kick lately, getting different shades of the nail polishes as well as some accessories. I honestly don't know what it is about this type of colour, but I love it for summer. Mermaid's Tears is the darker sage shade in the pastel green family that I have, but it is really nice. I used two coats, plus top coat to make it shinier.
In other news, I'm going home in two weeks. You have no idea how excited I am. I also can't believe that I've spent 5 months in France.

OPI Moon Over Mumbai

I've spent a considerable time last week in bed with a cold. Just my luck to get sick with summer just around the corner.
I have a few very exciting recent additions to my stash (Dance Legend Holos et.), but because it has been raining for weeks now, I will wait for the sun to show them off. For now I would like to show you an older OPI polish. Moon Over Mumbai is from Spring 2008. It is a pretty shimmery white-grey, it sort of reminds me of pearls. The visible nail line with this polish drove me insane, so I used 3-4 coats. But I think you can use fewer coats as well.

 

OPI Sonic Boom

Because I couldn't leave OPI Fly alone, I also tried layering OPI Sonic Boom over it, since they have similar base colours. Sonic Boom is a very sheer blue polish with green-yellow shimmer in it. I suppose you can get it to be opaque eventually, but I should think that it will take 3+ coats. This polish looks the prettiest in the bottle as you can notice some pink flashes as well. I'm not sure how easy is this polish to find (mine is black label) but I have seen a few newer, white label bottles in my local shop. Since it is an old polish, it takes a while to dry on its own, but i think it is absolutely worth it. I suppose the next thing I should do is try to see how many coats it will take to get opaque.

OPI Fly

OPI is by far my favourite brand, it is also the largest part of my stash. Fly represents everything I like about their polishes. The colour is great - bright, vibrant and very pretty. The formula is also fantastic, two coats here. It dries quickly and lasts some 3-4 days on me.

OPI Party In My Cabana

Last weekend me and a few friends discovered a local farmers' market. I've missed proper fresh produce, and food that tastes like it should. Funny how such small things make me really happy. It will certainly be on our to-do list every Saturday morning from now on. Even though it's fairly small, it is very colourful. In one place you have people selling cheese, close by are people selling fruit and vegetables, along with live hens next to them.

I have no idea what made me get this polish when I bought it. I suppose the swatches online looked completely different (or with my skin tone it looks differently). On me it looks like a muted pink shade with a hint of coral. I still like the polish, even though it is not what I expected. I DO like the formula of the polish, it applied nicely and easily in two coats. Actually the South Beach Collection form 2009, which includes this polish, has a few of my all-time favourites.

OPI William Tell Me About OPI

Oh how great it is that it is the weekend! That is just what I needed, some rest, fresh air, and of course studying. I have some exams coming up. Greeeeeat.
I'd rather talk a little about one of my favourite dark polishes - William Tell Me About OPI. It is just dark enough to be a sexy, dark plum, but light enough to still be able to tell the base colour.
I find it to be an easy one in terms of application, I used two coats.

OPI Just Spotted The Lizard

I am actually not that fond of duochrome polishes. There, I've said it. They look so lovely in the bottle, but when I put them on they just seem not that exciting. So when Peridot came out with all the dupes, I was not really bothered. And then I got OPI Just Spotted The Lizard as a gift.
I can't say that I absolutely love this polish, but there are aspects that I really like. The texture and the way it feels to the touch is great, so smooth. And the way it looks on grey, overcast days of which there are many in autumn and winter. This was two coats that dried really quickly.

OPI Vampsterdam

Oh, how I miss dark polish shades. I have a couple with me, but lately have little time to use them. I think that dark colours require neat application, so for the last week I've been walking around with just clear nail polish on. Shocking!
My bottle of this polish lost its label somewhere, but I'm sure that it is Vampsterdam. I thought that I wouldn't particularly like the finish, since it might seem prone to brushstrokes, but it is actually not that bad. The colour itself is a saturated dark plum, so I only used two coats, and it dried really quickly. I like the fact that it is dark enough, but not so dark that you can't telll which colour it is.

OPI Pink Friday

I never get tired of pink nail polish. Different shades make it perfectly appropriate for any occasion. It is no surprise, therefore, that I like Pink Friday from OPI.
Pink Friday is great, a very fresh colour and a lovely formula. It is very easy to apply, it dried really quickly on me, it was 2 coats.

You would think that in a stash of my size and for a person that likes pink, there would be a dupe or few among my pinks. But actually that is not the case. I don't have a complete copy of this shade. The closest think I found is OPI I Think In Pink which is a jelly. In the bottle the colours are identical (a bit like OPI Miami Beet and Houston We Have a Purple, are the same shade, but are a creme and jelly). For comparison both polishes are 2 coats.

OPI At Your Quebec And Call

Today is one off the first truly nice spring days around here. No clouds, sunny, but so cold! Me and some friends went exploring the town on Saturday. I really like tithe cutie narrow streets, and almost medieval crooked houses. Though I am rather surprised by how messy it is everywhere. Lots of rubbish in the streets, even in the city's centre, dog mess etc.

I've walked around the shops looking at different polishes, and in general the prices bite. OPI are around 20 euros here, which compared to prices back home seems must ridiculous. I did get Essie Good To Go, since the polishes I brought with me behave different here. I don't know why, but the polishes that normally dry fast and last a long time, here give me the worst case of pillow nails every morning.

One of the polishes that I miss is OPI At Your Quebec And Call. It certainly might not be unique, but it is a lovely bronze olive green shade I like a lot. Even though it is an older OPI polish, it has a great formula, I need only two coats.

My Perfect Nude

Whenever I get a real desire to have neutral nail colour, I go on the hunt for the perfect nude polish that both matches and flatters my skin tone. Turns out that it is not easy, not easy at all. Some shades look terrible with my pale skin, others are just too dark/pink/yellow. So I have amassed a large number of neutrals that are not quite right.
But I think that I have finally found my perfect neutral shade, and I'm even happier that it was gift = happy accident.
So the perfect nude for me is ... OPI Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh. The fact that it is easy to apply is yet another bonus, it is so creamy that I can get away with one thick coat, but here I'm wearing two thin coats.

OPI "Sheer" Your Toys

I'm leaving for my exchange semester in France tomorrow. I can't believe how quickly the time has come.
Today I'm wearing 'Sheer' Your Toys, an older polish from OPI, but it is a fabulous one - pale grey with a hint of pearl shimmer AND tiny copper bits. From looking at this polish you'd think that is would be rather sheer, but I only had to use 2 coats.

Baltic Beauty 2012

This weekend me and a friend went to the Baltic Beauty 2012 exhibition. We spent some 3 hours there, had a really good time. Laughed a lot, especially at creepy displays and products on offer (a photo of your aura, anyone?).
I didn't really take any photos since the displays were pretty much the same as last year. Apparently this season fake tan, curly hair and mad nail design are in. I did find some very cool products. It turned out that one local company stock Layla polishes. Not only that, but during the exhibition the polishes were 30% off. I couldn't resist. This year was the the first time that Oniks Beta, the local OPI distributor, managed to bring new collections in time for the exhibition - I've seen James Bond and Germany collection.

I walked away with Cuccio cuticle oil, Orly Miss Conduct, Layla 05 Jade Groove, 15 Misty Blush, 07 Ocean Rush, 11 Shock Pink, OPI On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Every Month is Oktoberfest.

OPI Not Like The Movies

I have been going through my polishes, trying to wear the ones that are not used all that often. This polish was one of them. For some reason I'm not that fond of it, at least I don't reach for it often enough. I used three thin coats here. It is kind of thin in consistency, and at first goes on really sheer. I like how at certain times you can see a little bit of green and pink in the silver of the polish.

I recently found out that I'm going to be spending an exchange semester in France early next year. It is really time to dust of my French, I suck so much at it!

 

OPI Japanese Rose Garden

Japanese Rose Garden hasn't been in my stash for a long time, yet it became a favourite quite quickly. It's not like it is very original, original, yet I love this polish. It is just adorable and girly. A soft rosy a pronounced silver-white shimmer. I also really like the formula on this one, it is pretty much opaque and perfect in one fairly thick coat.
