Catrice Oh My Goldness!

Cartice Nail Polish #910 Oh My Goldness! could not be named any more aptly. It is gold, very gold. I don't have a lot of gold polishes, so it is a nice addition to my stash. I think it will be a great shade for summer. It looks like warm liquid gold on my fingers, and I like it. The formula is a little on the sheer side, so I needed to use three coats for full opacity, but I think it is worth it.

OPI Just Spotted The Lizard

I am actually not that fond of duochrome polishes. There, I've said it. They look so lovely in the bottle, but when I put them on they just seem not that exciting. So when Peridot came out with all the dupes, I was not really bothered. And then I got OPI Just Spotted The Lizard as a gift.
I can't say that I absolutely love this polish, but there are aspects that I really like. The texture and the way it feels to the touch is great, so smooth. And the way it looks on grey, overcast days of which there are many in autumn and winter. This was two coats that dried really quickly.

Dior Golden Jungle Polish Duo

Yesterday was my birthday. As is always the case with birthdays and other special occasions, I never have enough time to polish my nails. It is perhaps lucky then that people tend to give me nail polish as gifts :)
Dior Golden Jungle nail polish duo was one of them. It consists of a pale gold foil as the base, and camouflage green crock effect crackle top coat. It looks quite interesting. Under the crackle you can use just one coat of gold polish.
On its own it required two coats to be opaque.

The crackle has an interesting texture, not really like a regular polish, more liquid and also not entirely opaque. It takes a while for it to crack completely, it was probably close to 5 minutes. Also if the the shatter is too thick, it will only crack at the edges. What I like the most is that the golden foil shines through the green and gives it an added dimension.

Great day and OPI Warm & Fozzie

My mum is a really outdoorsy person. She likes any sort of hiking and generally being outside. So it is no surprise that she likes gardening and in the summer we have an amazing garden. I on the other hand am not a fan, I don't like getting dirty, oh and don't get me started on the bugs and creepy crawlies.
I spent all day today outdoors. I woke up with a clear idea that I wanted to go and garden, prune trees and so on, my parents thought I was crazy. I helped my dad make raised beds for herbs that we plant every year. Now I know how to straighten crooked nails with a hammer :) He also had a lot of fun about the way I hold a hammer, which apparently is wrong.

This polish is beautiful, a kind of copper colour with a hint of pink and many other colours. I would say that it is a clear-based polish with lots of tiny metallic irregularly-shaped shimmer. It gave me a little trouble in terms of application, it was difficult to get enough polish right at the tips of my nails, so I ended up using 3 coats.



This polish changes color so much depending on the lighting!

China Glaze Solar Flare

Today is my friend's Sophia's birthday! Happy Birthday, dear! Today I also happen to have my varda diena, a local celebration of "name day". It's a nice local tradition where many common/traditional names are allotted specific days that you can celebrate, like Victoria on December 23rd, or Alexander on November 18th. I view it as just an opportunity to treat yourself a little bit.
Anyway, my parents surprised me by presenting me with DS Fantasy, a polish on my wishlist. Awesome!!!

But today I have a chunky glitter top coat to show you. China Glaze's Solar Flare reminds me of golden fish scales. It has big gold hexagons glitter in a clear base. Here I am wearing one coat over OPI Lincoln Park At Midnight. I've worn Solar flare over other colours, and I especially like it over red (very festive) and over blue. This is one of those polishes that looks great in indirect light\cloudy weather as the hexagons reflect light at different angles.

China Glaze In Awe Of Amber

Hey everyone! For some reason I am absolutely exhausted today and it is not yet 7 o'clock. I've had way too many lectures today and I there isn't even anything fun to do - my best friend is away visiting her boyfriend, and another friend is slaving away for the benefit of one company abroad. So it is my blog and some movie for me.
Today I am going to show you one of the polishes I got as a present from my parents. In Awe Of Amber is a sort of gold copper colour, it almost looks like a foil but it isn't. Also it looks nothing like most amber (I should know, amber is a local thing here), but I appreciate the effort. I used three coats in the photos, but you can use just two, it will just look more sheer.
This is part of the "We Adorn You" set and there is something slightly funky that I've discovered. It has 8 nail polishes and most say 14ml on the bottle apart from three, including this one. You can see that it says 19ml on the bottle, and all the 19ml polishes looked slightly less full that the rest. Now, I have no clue at all whether China Glaze has ever had polishes with 19 ml in them, they bottles don't look any different to the 14ml ones, so I'm not sure what's up with that.

China Glaze GR8

It seems that lately I am completely unable to pass by a holographic polish without getting my hands on it. Oh, well, at least it is summer and you can see all the awesome colour change and shine. This time I fell for the GR8 polish from China Glaze. I gather that it is not so easy to come by, apparently not so at my local shop where these cuties occasionally show up.
I somehow thought that the holo effect would be less visible in this golden tan polish, but no, it's great and visible. It only needed two coats and dried really fast. The only thing I find is that light holographic polishes reveal all the bumps of my nails, so a ridgefiller with these is a must for me. The wear is quite good for me as well, about three days.
