OPI Midnight Blue Glitter
I haven't worn this polish in ages, and the last time I showed Midnight Blue Glitter my photos didn't really show how pretty it is. The blue glitter catches the light at different angles making the whole polish light up. This was two coats over silvery-grey polish.

Kiko 391 + L'Oreal Confettis
Happy New Year to all my lovely readers!
Kiko 391 is probably the brightest, grass-green polish I own. I don't have any other shades that are quite like this. Any brighter and we are entering neon territory. On its own Kiko 391 is a lovely creme polish, I used two thin coats, just a bit too bright for me. So I used L'Oreal Confettis on top. Confettis are actually quite lovely! It is packed with small and large black and white hex glitter as well as some faint shimmer that is hardly noticeable. Together these polishes make for a gorgeous combination!

Texture Week - Essence Here's My Number
Okay, this, simply put, is one awesome polish. This is probably my favourite sand polish I own. It is very beautiful, both when it is textured and with the top coat. Here's My Number is a charcoal grey polish that has small matte black glitter in it as well as slightly larger holographic glitter that flashes mainly blue, green and red. This was two coats. With the top coat on it looks kind of like OPI Midnight Blue Glitter on steroids.

Texture Week - Kinetics Jackpot
Continuing on with the textured sand polishes I have, today I have Jackpot from Kinetics. It is pretty much exactly the same as Bali Escape, just a pale pink-beige shade instead of silver. I think that it is a very work safe shade, it is barely there, not very noticeable and I like it. I quite like these Kinetics 'leather and sand' polishes, because they tend to last 3+ days on me.

Texture Week - Kinetics Bali Escape
Hi guys! I've decided to dedicate this week to all the sand textured polishes. Since I'm not such a great fan of these, I think that otherwise I won't get around to wearing them.
The first one I have for you is Bali Escape from Kinetics. They call these texture polishes Sand & Leather.
I was actually pleasantly surprised with this polish - the formula is pretty nice, I used only 2 coats, it dried relatively quickly, and I actually like how it looks. It consists of somewhat sheer silver base with textured particles and larger silver hex glitter that stands out. I'm still not sold on the whole sandy texture though, it feels rather rough to the touch. I like the fact that the texture makes it look both shiny and and not shiny at the same time.

Catrice Marilyn & Me
Hey there! Long time, no posts. I somehow have fallen off the blogging wagon for a little bit. I can't quite wrap my mind around the fact that in a few weeks time I will be in France.

Since I'm still in the holiday mood, I decided to show you a rather festive polish - Catrice 550 Marilym & Me. It is a great polish, a red shimmery jelly with a little bit of red glitter thrown in the mix. It only needs two coats, dries quickly and looks like strawberries :)

China Glaze It's Alive!

The pumpkin I planted is getting bigger every day, and it makes me think of Halloween. It's Alive from last year's Halloween collection is an awesome bog green glitter fest. It is surprisingly difficult to capture, there are so many things my camera wanted to focus on. This was three thin coats. I like that there is both tiny glitter and big hex glitter mixed into the base.

NOTD Orly Androgynie

I have a sort of hit and miss relationship with Orly polishes. They are either amazing, with gorgeous colours, last long and are easy in application, or they barely last a day and are difficult to work with.
So whenever I see an Orly polish that is really gorgeous I really hope that it will be good. And only if it is really truly beautiful will I get it.
With Androgynie I went backwards and forwards whether I like it enough to get it. EventuallyI obviously succumbed :)
At first I was kind of disappointed that all the big hex glitter stuck to the bottle sides and very few made it to the nails. But after wearing it a couple of times I can say that I love how it looks. It is black, but there is enought of golden glitter in to to make it seem brown next to something truly black. Also whenever I use this polish, I shake it quite violently and then put it upside down for about 5-10 minutes. This way I get a sufficient amount of large glitter that I like on the nails. I usually use 2 coats like here, or layer one coat over black.

OPI Holiday Glow

This is possibly the least summer appripriate polish there is. To me is screams autumn, fallen leaves, maybe even winter holidays. But just as I like to listen to Christmas and holiday tunes in the middle of summer, this is what I'm wearing on one of the hottest days. It is difficult to describe how much I like this polish. It is brown with two different glitters. It is awesome. Two coats here.

Americal Apparel Light Year

I am a sucker for glitters, they can be really fun to use. I don't have anything quite like Light Year, as every time a nail polish has large holographic glitter, it seems to be mixed with other types of glitter. This one looks a bit like fish scales. here I'm wearing one coat over AA Angeline.
I probably wouldn't wear it over all my nails - it seems a bit too much, but as an accent I like it.

Barefoot Rainbow

Sometimes when I wear dark or bright polishes for a long time I get really tired of them. That's when I reach for the most boring and neutral colours in my stash. That happened to me the other week, and I randomly chose a polish which was OPI Barefoot in Barcelona. I had totally forgotten that with my skin tone it looks absolutely hideous until it was on my nails. Of course I was too lazy to take it off and start again. I could try to rectify the situation with either glitter of a crackle polish. I chose glitter in the for of OPI Rainbow Connection.

Also my cat is a horrible poser. He always wants to be in the centre of attention :)

China Glaze Moulin Rouge

This is a perfect Valentine's Day nail polish, I think. It's red and sparkly, full of iridescent glitter. Moulin Rouge is a red equivalent of Meteor Shower and Preppy Pink. This was two coats, it dries slightly bumpy, but nothing that a few coats of top coat cannot cure. For some reason this polish reminds me of summer strawberries.

China Glaze Solar Flare

Today is my friend's Sophia's birthday! Happy Birthday, dear! Today I also happen to have my varda diena, a local celebration of "name day". It's a nice local tradition where many common/traditional names are allotted specific days that you can celebrate, like Victoria on December 23rd, or Alexander on November 18th. I view it as just an opportunity to treat yourself a little bit.
Anyway, my parents surprised me by presenting me with DS Fantasy, a polish on my wishlist. Awesome!!!
But today I have a chunky glitter top coat to show you. China Glaze's Solar Flare reminds me of golden fish scales. It has big gold hexagons glitter in a clear base. Here I am wearing one coat over OPI Lincoln Park At Midnight. I've worn Solar flare over other colours, and I especially like it over red (very festive) and over blue. This is one of those polishes that looks great in indirect light\cloudy weather as the hexagons reflect light at different angles.

Below is a close up of the polish in natural light, with a flash and in the sun.

OPI Spark De Triomphe

I've been dreaming about this polish when it first appeared, but I was almost sure that it would never be sold here, as we never get the duo packs. But one day as if by magic Spark De Triomphe was sold on it's own. I'm so happy!!! It's sparkly and glittery, what not to like! Here in the photos I have two coats on. You can still see my nails, but I'm not bothered by that. I love this polish!
All this week my our hasn't been feeling all that well. At the first sign of trouble we took him to the vet and it turns out that he has a bad bladder infection. Apparently in his case it is likely to be hereditary. Also we were told by the vet that our cat is too fat and needs to lose weight, so he's now on a specific amount of special dry food a day. He's distinctly not impressed, as he's used to fresh meat with just a bit of dry food on the side. So now he's boycotting all our attempts to feed him healthier.
Felix has already had his fair share of health troubles, he's probably the only cat that doesn't land on his feet. When he was 5 months old, he fell off the table in his sleep and broke both his legs. Anyway, one of the titanium pins was even left inside.
