Catrice Berry Potter & Plumbledore

Catrice #46 Berry Potter & Plumbledore is a plum/purple polish with a striking blue shimmer. I used two coats, and it dries quick-ish. The base colour is slightly lighter that my swatches show is, but it is the shimmer that makes is interesting. And I love the name :)

Cuccio Colour Iron Clad

Cuccio Nail polishes have finally arrived here! This is really exciting, as I've been seeing all these amazing shades they have. I picked up a few polishes last week. One of them is Iron Clad from the Precious Metals collection, which looks and feels a lot like OPI Suede.
It took me a while to choose this shade, because the collection has 7 polishes. I chose the one that wasn't blue (since I have 2 blue-ish OPI Suede shades) and the one I thought I would wear the most.
So Iron Clad it is, a shade I would most likely call purple\aubergine matte shimmer. I like that this polish dries really fast AND it needs only one (!) coat.

With top coat it looks equally great:

Chanel Taboo

It's so good to be home! It is warm and sunny, and I've been enjoying my summer at last. It is not wet and grey like it was in France. It is great!!!

This is my first Chanel polish that I got for myself. A sort of present for coming home.
This polish is gorgeous, a deep purple with purple, blue and pink shimmer in it. I also really like the formula, it is easy to apply, and if I'm careful I can probably get away with just one coat.
It looks breathtaking in the bottle, I just wish it translated more onto the nails.

Current NOTD - Fantasy Fire

I've been playing with Max Factor Fantasy Fire today, layering it over various polishes. I've worn it many times over OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest and Barry M Navy, but I think this is my favourite one. I layered  Fantasy Fire over a plum creme polish (Max Factor Intense Plum). I love how it looks.
My cousin is getting married in a couple of months, and the wedding colour is purple. I think I've just found what I am going to wear on my nails :)

China Glaze Draped In Velvet

I've been a bad blogger lately. No matter how much I tell to myself that today is the day I finally sit down and write a post, something else occupies my time and attention. Oh well...
But the good news is that spring is finally here! Today is actually the first time I didn't wear any jacket outside. That is fabulous!!!

My bottle of Draped In Velvet has the (old) white label, but the polish itself is really nice and pigmented, two coats here. I really like the colour, and the finish. I like how it glows and shimmers blue, pink and purple.

OPI William Tell Me About OPI

Oh how great it is that it is the weekend! That is just what I needed, some rest, fresh air, and of course studying. I have some exams coming up. Greeeeeat.
I'd rather talk a little about one of my favourite dark polishes - William Tell Me About OPI. It is just dark enough to be a sexy, dark plum, but light enough to still be able to tell the base colour.
I find it to be an easy one in terms of application, I used two coats.

OPI Vampsterdam

Oh, how I miss dark polish shades. I have a couple with me, but lately have little time to use them. I think that dark colours require neat application, so for the last week I've been walking around with just clear nail polish on. Shocking!
My bottle of this polish lost its label somewhere, but I'm sure that it is Vampsterdam. I thought that I wouldn't particularly like the finish, since it might seem prone to brushstrokes, but it is actually not that bad. The colour itself is a saturated dark plum, so I only used two coats, and it dried really quickly. I like the fact that it is dark enough, but not so dark that you can't telll which colour it is.

Jessica Born 2 Pansy

France is driving me slightly crazy :) It seems that I live in a neighborhood full of exhibitionists and voyeurs. People seem to prefer to have large windows and no curtains. But the absolute worst thing for me is the fact that the walls here are paper thin. I can hear everything that is happening in the neighbors' flats.

This is a very, very stunning polish. It is all in the shimmer, it changes colour from pink and purple to green and blue. The polish is from last spring and itself is on the sheer side, so I used three coats here. I love how feminine this polish looks.

Layla Misty Blush

Hey everyone! Long time, no see! I've finally finished all my studies that were taking up all my time, and also passed all my exams really rather well. So now I have a lot of free time. In the last few days I've put up the Christmas tree, tidied the house up, and went to see The Hobbit.
At the same time my nails have grown quite long. Today I'm wearing one of the loveliest polishes I've tried. Layla Holographic 15 Misty Blush is wonderful, such an unusual color that also has a magnificent rainbow effect. It also dries really quickly on me and needs just 2 coats.

Sparitual Shooting Star

I  have been a little busy with my studies recently, some days I don't get home before 9 p.m. I had barely enough energy to do anything. Interestingly, there are a lot of people from India and Uzbekistan studying with me. In the past month I acquired quite a lot of polishes, from a few really pretty Sparituals and Gosh Holographic Hero to a lot of OPI and Orly ones when my friend Sophie who decided to get rid of some of her polishes. Surprisingly we have very few polishes in common, a total of three I think.
Shooting Star is a true beauty! Purple with a hint of pink and blue. The finish is marked as 'shimmer' on this one. I used two coats.

Our cat keep using the last dry and warm-ish days to drag all sorts of creatures into the house as his trophies. I am already used to huge dragonflies, and small crickets, but the latest one is the creepiest still:

Max Factor #41 Meteorite

When Max Factor came out with their Max Effect mini polishes, everyone pounced at how great Fantasy Fire was and how it reminded everyone of that one amazing elusive Clarins polish.
But there are actually a few other shades that I find quite interesting. Around here Max Factor have redone their displays for the first time ever, and they now include a handful of mini Max Effects. Meteorite is a pretty polish, a sort of purple leaning blue, and the finish is kind of a foil, I guess. This was two coats.

Hema Long Lasting Nail Polish #79

I don't really know how to describe this colour. It's a dark, jewel shimmery shade with a hint of red, brown, purple and even a flash of blue. This was two coats. Lovely colour, especially perfect for autumn.
This is what I'm currently wearing, since around here summer is well and truly over. Actually, there were about a total of 15 hot days this summer, the most miserable summer I can remember! Wooly socks have been my friends for a month now.

China Glaze Urban Night

I got this polish solely because of its name. There is a personal joke between my friends involving the word 'Urban'. The fact that it is purple is just an added bonus.
It came out last autumn and it is okay. I think that the formula is a bit annoying. I have other polishes like this - you use two coats and indoors it looks perfect, and then you wank into the bright sunlight and suddenly there are these bald, uneven patches that appear out of nowhere. In the end I used 3 coats for these pictures.

Orly Rococo A-Go-Go

When I went through my stash not long ago, it turned out that about 90 per cent of my polishes that fall into the 'purple' category are actually dark, jewel tones.
Rococo a-go-go is one of them. It the bottle it looks close to Space Cadet, my mum even asked me why I have two of the same polishes. After twirling them around she conceded that they're not.
I used two coats, and it is perfect. It's deep and shiny, shimmery, and since it has all these tiny flakies in the polish, they change colour depending on the angle of the nails to the light source, thought not as much as in the bottle.

Whenever our cat is not spending time outside, he's sleeping or begging to go outside. And whenever he's outside, no insect is safe. It is the open season on crickets, dragonflies, butterflies and so on. Thankfully he doesn't eat them, just plays with them.
